As Pupil Progress celebrates its 10th anniversary, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Brett Griffin, reflects on the past decade.
I can’t believe that it's the 10th anniversary of Pupil Progress this year. It’s a time to celebrate, but also a time to reflect on where we’ve been, where we’re going, and what we stand for. I’ve been considering our values and how our beliefs can positively impact our customers and, having asked our growing team for input too, it gives me great pleasure to share these with you. - Brett Griffin, Pupil Progress Founder & CEO
1. Leading 👑
Our co-founder, Barnaby Grimble, and I, both started out as teachers and school leaders. During our teaching careers, we found effective ways to manage pressure and navigate what was needed of us - to deliver the best student performance we could. That’s why we started Pupil Progress, to share our unique system for tracking and analysing student data with teachers all over the world. We know it works, and we want to share this with you and be at the forefront of EdTech innovation.
2. Expert 🥇
We’re an educator-founded platform that was built for teachers by teachers, but we’ve always wanted to be more than just a software company. Our trackers provide one central point of truth for data - automating work educators have previously done in siloed structures and spreadsheets! We provide live tracking and the facility to pull accurate individual student reports, improving communication with students and parents, while also empowering and supporting educators to understand and use this data. They tell us this reduces stress, offers support, and (most importantly) puts the joy back into teaching.
3. Focused 🎯
I dislike jargon and convoluted language. I want to make things simpler for teachers and education professionals, not confuse them! So we tell it like it is in a way that’s clear, concise, and to-the-point. What’s more, we know first-hand teachers’ time is precious. That’s why we’ve put a lot of our time into creating resources that give you exactly what you need, without too much fluff. From blog articles and CPD workshops to our partnership with PiXL - the hub of quality resources.
4. Flexible 📈
The landscape of education is ever-changing, with varying needs and challenges across different schools, districts, and regions. That’s why embracing flexibility has always been important to me. We tailor our trackers to your specific requirements, ensuring they seamlessly integrate into your existing systems and workflows.
Internally, flexibility lies in the working patterns and trust we have across our people to get the best of them, while giving them enough room to be autonomous so we can each own the problem, own the outcome, own the solution. Every time you meet with one of us, our goal is that you feel the benefits of our solutions-focused approach.

I didn’t want us to be just another vendor; we want to be your trusted partner who genuinely cares about your success. We always aim to be transparent and approachable in every interaction, because at the end of the day, it's our connection with each other that matters most.

One of our main aims is to help teachers and school leaders provide a transparent, efficient, and effective view of pupils' progress across all subjects and at whole school and trust levels. Our commitment to transparency means that educators can rely on our data tracking and analysis tools to accurately reflect student performance, allowing for informed decision-making and targeted interventions.
9. Innovative 💡
We’re always looking for ways to introduce new ideas, methods, and technologies to improve our trackers based upon our customers' needs. By striving to push boundaries and develop cutting-edge services, and continuing to partner and collaborate with like minded providers, such as PiXL and NCFE, we will stay ahead of the EdTech curve.
10. Evolving 🚀
We’ve come really far over the last decade and I’m really proud of what we’ve built. But this is still the beginning and we can adapt, grow, and progress further - alongside you. We're continuously learning from experiences, adjusting strategies, and responding to changes in the education environment.
Over the past 12 months our team has grown by 300% and across our range of products and partnerships, our customer base has enjoyed 140% growth which is really fantastic. Barnaby and I couldn't be happier. We can’t wait to see where we’ll be next year.
